Automated Functional Test Equipment

The cycle counter described elsewhere on this website required a functional tester to ensure quality in the assembly process.

Design Goals:

  1. Simulate PLC logic by driving 30V input signals on two ports
  2. Control the frequency and duty cycle on each output
  3. Detect failure conditions on the unit under test

The finished tester is shown above.

 

The IO board is plugged into the card at the lower left.

 

 

A prototype functional tester was created below to test ideas related to the final design.

The goal is to control a functional test of the Cycle counter by simulating 0-30V signals coming from the PLC
